This pretty smocked dress is in two small sizes for babies of 0-12 months and 1-2 years. It is made with a lovely soft cotton. The pink rosebuds which decorate the bodice and the collar are made by hand and the collar is edged with lace. There is a large hem. By unpicking the hem, it is possible to prolong the wearability of the dress. This is because the bodice is quite loose. 

It can be worn also as a pretty nightdress.

In fact traditionally, smocked frocks were made in this way as there was a lot of sewing involved and mothers who had laboured over the making of the dress wanted it to last.!

Sometimes the dress would be passed down the family with the hem being stitched up and down to suit the age of the child!

This dress would be good for a Christening ( a white cardigan is available) or any special occasion. Or it would make a sweet nightie.
